CIVIL WAR IN ODM: Mbadi Declares 2032 Bid, Tells Sifuna to "Pack and Go"
The fragile peace within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has officially shattered. In a shocking declaration that has caught both allies and foes off guard, National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi yesterday (Monday) announced his bid for the Presidency in 2032, effectively confirming that he will back President William Ruto for a second term in 2027. Speaking in Homa Bay, the former ODM Chairman did not mince his words, launching a blistering attack on ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, whom he accused of serving "foreign masters" and undermining the party's cooperation with the government. "Sifuna is Already Gone" Mbadi’s remarks were personal and cutting. He dismissed Sifuna’s recent criticism of the "Broad-Based Government," suggesting the Nairobi Senator is no longer a true member of the orange party. "Someone like Sifuna will not remain in ODM because he is already conflicted. He is selling the agenda of someone else. Why are you pretending? You cannot keep him in the party; he is gone. Allow him to go!" — John Mbadi, Treasury CS. The 2032 Game Plan Mbadi’s declaration clears the air on the "Raila Succession" plan from the government's perspective. By focusing on 2032, Mbadi is signaling that the Nyanza region should support President Ruto in 2027 to secure a clear path to the presidency five years later. "Raila left us in government and said we will work with Ruto even past 2027. Do you want us to join Gachagua or Kalonzo? No. We are staying here," Mbadi asserted. The "Linda Mwananchi" Counter-Strike The attack comes just days after Edwin Sifuna, Babu Owino, and Ruth Odinga launched the "Linda Mwananchi" initiative, a rebel faction within ODM that has vowed to oppose the government's policies despite their party boss (Raila) being in the AU. Ruth Odinga (Kisumu Woman Rep) fired back yesterday evening, warning that Mbadi’s arrogance would cost the party its grassroots support. "You cannot sell the party to UDA and expect the members to clap," she stated. Why It Matters This is no longer just a war of words; it is a battle for the soul of Nyanza. Team Mbadi: Wants total integration with UDA. Team Sifuna: Wants to keep ODM as a fighting opposition force. As we head toward the party elections later this year, expect this split to turn chaotic. Cedarmond TV is following the Sifuna response.
